FOI Athlete of the Week Honors Football and Cross-Country Athletes from Seffner Christian Academy

Tampa, Fla. – Sept. 18, 2018 – Florida Orthopaedic Institute (FOI) is proud to announce its Athlete of the Week award winners for the week ending September 21, 2018. This week’s winner of the Team Player Award is junior football starting quarterback from Seffner Christian Academy Isaiah Knowles. The Leadership Award goes to freshman cross-country athlete Emelia Huebner, also from Seffner Christian Academy.

Knowles and Huebner were nominated by Head Football Coach Travis Puleo and Assistant Athletic Director Andy Holmes respectively for pushing themselves and their teammates to higher levels of performance. Both were recognized for being exemplary teammates and strong students.

For Knowles and Huebner, winning the FOI Athlete of the Week Award is the first of many goals they are looking to achieve this year.

“As a quarterback and team captain, my goal is to be better individually than last year, in both the game and as a leader. Personally, I want to grow stronger as a young man and become a better teammate,” said Knowles.

“This year I would like to reach state again and improve my place over last year. I never give up or miss a practice, even if it’s 100 degrees or pouring rain. Being part of a team with great friends is the most rewarding thing of all,” stated Huebner.

The FOI Athlete of the Week – Team Player Award is given each week to a Hillsborough County high school athlete whose coaches feel does his or her best to put direction into action, make a significant contribution to the team, and continuously works to improve his or her skills, attitude and training.

Athletes who earn the FOI Athlete of the Week – Leadership Award must exemplify strong relationship building skills, show excellent initiative on and off the court, and serve as a role model for his or her peers.
