Ireland Nugent Visits Florida Orthopaedic Institute to Remove Her Cast

Watch as Bay News 9 features Ireland Nugent visiting her doctors at Florida Orthaepedic Institute for the removal of her cast.

We’re still following the recovery of a little girl whose life was changed by a lawnmower accident. Ireland Nugent can finally use both of our hands. Doctors removed her cast, of course, like any kid her age, it wasn’t exactly where she wanted to be today, but getting this cast off will help the two and a half year old to recovery. Doctors had already removed the pins in her hand, which was also injured in the accident that severed her feet. As Ireland waits for her legs to heal enough for prosthetics, today she proved she is well on her way to her new normal.
And when I saw it initially after right after the accident I saw the laceration, I didn’t get to see the other damage, so to hear how bad it really was is it was all surprising to me. I mean, I try to keep up with it, but it’s also one of the things that’s hard for me to hear. But I’m so, I feel so blessed that it’s going to be okay. Okay.
And next month, a group of volunteers called team Ireland will host a family fun day at the center and Palm Harbor. There will be several kid-friendly events, including putt, putt, and carnival games. We’ve posted more details.
