Chris’s New Hip
Chris Enos was only 41, but after a damaging hip injury, complicated by arthritis, he wanted a repair that would get him back to his active life as a dad and coach. Learn about the surgery that’s changed his life, in more ways than one.
My name is Christopher Enos. I’m 42 years old. I coach my son’s under eight hockey team last year. And three of the youngsters happened to hit me just right from the side and behind. And the first thing I came down on was, was the side of my hip. I didn’t realize at the time that it was broken that did not heal properly and therefore it was slowly decaying and it’s extremely painful cause the bones just rubbing bone on bone right there. So there’s no motion through his hip at all. Dr. Infante, first of all, his entire FOI staff is just incredible.
So I’m in the office and we were able to go the x rays with him and reassure him that we would get his motion back and that we can do a hip replacement. And in the newer type of hip replacements that we do, we do what’s called an anterior approach. It’s muscle sparing. Both the implant, his and his surgical style allows for no muscle to be cut. So he has metal and then the arthritis, the post-traumatic arthritis is completely gone. He has a new ball and a new socket. So it’s coming up on a little over nine months now. It’s really been a return to my prior function, just as Dr. Infante had had told me that it would be so, so I saw him the other day. He’s now in PT school and he wants to be a physical therapist and he wants to be able to work with patients like the physical therapist that worked with him. It was very satisfying. Absolutely. I would say that you know, the outcome of the surgery, the staff and Dr. Infante inspired me to pursue her career in orthopedics. I really can’t thank them enough.
