Ed Crawford, Total Hip Replacement Testimonial
I was injured a number of years ago, and when you’re younger and more fit you think, well, it’s not really that big a problem. But as I got older, my right hip became more and more problematic and I started going to Florida Orthopaedic about three years ago for them to basically evaluate my hip and tell me what was going on. Even gentle yoga was getting to where I just couldn’t do the positions. I couldn’t sit comfortably on the floor in the last three years. It’s just been progressive. I just wouldn’t go to yoga anymore. And then I had to give up my Sunday bike ride. So it really was kind of down to being the guy hanging around, watching TV and reading. Orthopedics has changed a lot in the last 15, 20 years. And I wanted to make sure that I got somebody who was really practicing the most recent medicine. I found in Dr. Grayson, that he had adapted to the latest technology and hip replacement. And that’s what I asked him to do for me. And he did.
I live in Northwest Hillsborough County. So I had my surgery at a nice countryside hospital, which is really convenient for me. It was a right hip replacement, total hip replacement. The level of treatment was really excellent. One of the things I liked about both they and Dr. Grayson, is that they really listen to the patient. I stayed one night and the next morning I got up and walked around the room with no pain and that was it. I was discharged that afternoon, so I went in one afternoon, stayed the night, got up the next afternoon. The type of surgery I had is known for its quick recovery and I think I’m pretty good proof of that. The first thing was to get back on the bicycle and just ride in the neighborhood gently until I established that, okay, everything’s there just like it was before. There’s no pain getting on the motorcycle, which weighs about 400 some odd pounds, little riskier proposition. But I was surprised that because I was so compromised with the pain that I had before, once I got on, I realized it was easier for me to ride the motorcycle than it had been before the, before the surgery.
So there was no recovery period as far as that goes. It was just when in my mind, I decided it was safe to get back on. And one of the things I like to do is take my dogs to the dog park. There’s a lot of folks that are near or around my age. And so they knew that I was having trouble with my hip and that I had surgery. And of course, the question comes up, who, who did you go to? And I said, well, you know, I went to Florida Orthopaedic. And the next question as well, who was the doctor? And I said Dr. Christopher Grayson, I would recommend him to anybody. He and I had a really good relationship. He’s a great listener. And I was very, very pleased with the treatment. You know, the whole process was excellent. And so was his staff.
