Doctor Profile: Shaan Mehta, MD

Dr. Mehta: My name is Dr. Shaan Mehta. I’m a physician here at Florida Orthopaedic Institute. I specialize in the field of interventional pain management. In terms of patients I see here, I see primarily spine patients, so cervical, thoracic, and lumbar-related issues. But in addition to that, I do have fellowship training in both pain management and sports medicine, so I’m able to help treat patients as well with their, you know, tendon issues, sports-related injuries, and also joint-related concerns.

So what I enjoy best really is helping patients who really have been struggling with pain for a long period in their life. They’re at my door mostly because, at this point in time, they haven’t really been able to figure out what’s causing them that problem. So for me, it’s really rewarding first, not only to tell them what their condition is but also to then help craft a treatment plan that can really help maximize their quality of life.

So each patient is different. There is no algorithm to, you know, musculoskeletal medicine really. We go through a full physical examination, we review imaging, and I really try to understand what your needs and your obstacles are right now and how I can best address them. At Florida Orthopaedic Institute, we really value the relationships we share with our patients.
