About Dr. Gasser
Dr. Gasser has been with the Florida Orthopaedic Institute since 1993. He attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1987 as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Gasser completed his orthopaedic residency training at the University of Southern California, and his Sports Medicine Fellowship at the renowned Southern California Center for Sports Medicine. He is board-certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and holds an additional subspecialty certification in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Gasser presently serves as head team physician for the University of Tampa, Tampa Preparatory School, and Berkeley Preparatory School. He has also served as team physician for numerous high schools, colleges, and professional organizations including the Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay Storm, Tampa Bay Rowdies, Tampa Bay Mutiny, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, University of South Florida, and Plant High School. Dr. Gasser is a 30 year member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He has lectured at medical conferences on a local, national, and international level, and is actively involved in research and education. In addition, he has authored numerous journal articles, book chapters and instructional videos related to sports medicine injuries.
Dr. Gasser is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of South Florida, a Clinical Professor of Athletic Training and Physician Assistant Medicine at the University of Tampa, Vice President of the Florida Orthopaedic Institute, and Director of its Sports Medicine Service. Additionally, he serves as President and Medical Director of the Florida Orthopaedic Institute Surgery Center. Dr. Gasser has extensive experience in arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery and utilizes state of the art technology to best help his patients. He has been voted a prestigious member of the “Best Doctors in America” for 25 consecutive years.
In his spare time, Dr. Gasser loves spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoys reading, traveling, exercising, and outdoor activities.

I had surgery in 2003 on my right knee for my (ACL) with Dr Gasser. Went back today after 23 years and like always very knowledgeable, professional and great attitude from the nurses. He really knows what he’s doing. The scar from the surgery it’s not even noticeable. Came to find out that I have arthritis on both knees but that comes with age. Besides that I really recommend Dr. Gasser and Hope he lasts for another 100 years.

I've been under Dr. Gasser's care for approximately 10 years and he's always been professional with outstanding medical attention, advice and respect. With a body that's been truly riddled with knee and shoulder injuries, Dr. Gasser has always provided me with excellent care, whether surgical (which he's never pushed) or joint injections. Dr. Gasser did cortisone injections into both shoulders. I have visited several Doctors for injections through the VA. Never before have the got the injection into the correct spot. Dr. Gasser was able to inject both shoulders correctly. I feel like I am ten years younger. The relief was instantaneous. Granted, there was 30 seconds of very uncomfortable prep as he had to work to get the needle into the joint. Totally worth it however, as my shoulders feel a decade younger.Dr. Gasser did knee surgery on me 4 years ago and that knee is still going strong. I highly recommend this doctor. Not only does he have a pleasant manner but he is highly skilled!!!

Dr. Gasser performed an ACL repair on my right knee and some years later he performed a left meniscectomy. he did a fantastic job, I regained full function after his interventions and have participated in competitive sports. Dr. Gasser is truly one of the best sports orthopedic surgeons in the country. We are so fortunate to have him in the Tampa Bay area. Doctor Gasser recently performed the reconstruction of my ACL. This was my second reconstruction, the first one lasting about 20 years. However, this isn’t type of experience one typically forgets. I see Dr. Gasser is a true master of his craft. He takes his time to review everything, answer all questions, assess the issue thoroughly. I had a meniscus repair in May and so far healing well. He's very positive in visits and gives clear instructions. Elio has been great as well, and so have the office staff. Dr. Gasser not only listens to your questions, comments and concerns but answers them promptly. I like the fact that he puts the joint he repaired through the tests instead of just assuming the problem is corrected because of the surgery. What I mean by that he checked it like he hadn’t seen it before instead of assuming everything was intact. It’s great to have doctors out there that still rely on testing the ligaments and meniscus of the joint than going what the MRI shows. It’s something that is being lost as technology improves and physicians lose the ability (or maybe confidence) in reading the body. Dr. Gasser is a Rock-Star! He and his team reconstructed my ACL and both meniscus 3 weeks ago, that, along with folliwing their instruction, has me up and about, well over 90° range of motion, and little pain from the procedure! It already feels more stable then before the surgery, and I feel this one is going to have a much faster rehab then the one I had when I was in my 20's! I had severe pain and went to my doctor. Didn't look at the area touch it or anything ask three questions and sent me for an x-ray. Two days later I got a letter in the mail saying that bones weren't broken and I should do therapy. My wife sent me to Florida Orthopedic to see Dr Gasser . He asked a lot of questions and thoroughly examine the joints by flexing and moving them different ways and asking questions about it. He drained a large amount of fluid off the joint and gave me a mild steroid. 90% better leaving his office. Highly recommend Florida Orthopedic and doctor Seth Gasser. Dr. Gasser (Seth) - was very sincere along with his staff. He is not the typical doctor that rushes surgery for money. He will give you his honest opinion and if PT is a option he will recommend it. Of course this is if you are willing to do the work with rehab. Most are not which is why most get reinjured. If you want a honest opinion and a staff that cares, this is your place. He looked at my knee today, which turned out to be 'onset arthritic'. I liked how he refused to do anything about it unless it will get worse. There was no 'sales pressure' like with some other doctors who want you to spend some money on treatments, even if they are not necessary. Dr. Gasser repaired my ACL following a skiing injury in 2018. He is an expert in his field and I am thankful he did my surgery. He takes time to call his patients personally the night of surgery- I appreciated his follow-up. I am fully back to an active lifestyle with no limitations, pain or complaints. Just wanted to drop in and give a review on my long-term result for surgery completed Dr. Gasser. He completed my Left ACL replacement about 17 years ago. The surgery went well, I completed physical therapy, and recovery went beautifully. Now, at 50 years of age, I play sports, lift heavy weights, and jog/skip rope for cardio. All is is this is completed without difficulty, with stability, and with normal range of motion. I work in healthcare and as such I'm able to ask surgeons who myself and my family should go to. Every time I ask about Sports Medicine doctors, Dr Gasser is one of the first names I'm given. Dr. Gasser is the most skilled, intelligent and is absolutely the most caring and compassionate Orthopedic and Medical Doctor; my husband and I have ever been experienced. He has taken me from not being able to walk without a Cane, and my Husband as well, due to being bone on bone with our knees, and put us on Euflexxa gel injections for the past several years. PROOF of Euflexxa use, is shown in my new XRays, which shows since the 1st round of Injections, NO further decline in bone on bone in my knees. He has ensured through persistence with His medical knowledge to ensure that this particular gel was imperative for my well being. I have a great quality of life, and my husband as well, due to Him ensuring that Euflexxa is used. Thank God both Medicare and my BCBS FEDERAL Plan approves Euflexxa. His Assistant Kathy Devine always ensures that she returns my phone calls, gives me truthful guidance and assistance, and while she is truly taxied with helping all of Dr. Gassers patients, she always does it with her beautiful smile. His Staff always give professional and caring help by always being right there to help. Charles who orders our gel, gives guidance and helps to ensure that our Appointments which requires 3 weeks of 1 injection, is done in a 3 consecutive weekly order. Also, Dr. Gassers Director of Injections Karen Denmark truly does her best to help and answer my questions, and to get us the Euflexxa gel. Dr. Gassers is to the point, in medical care, because HE KNOWS what He is doing. My husband and I drive down from Ocala Florida every 6 months, because in our humble yet at times bold opinion, no other Doctor gives shots WITHOUT pain, like Dr. Gasser. We trust Him with our knees, and if surgery was ever required, we would trust Him with our lives. Thank you Dr. Gasser, and Kathy for being our Medical Team. As usual great experience. I am a retired physician and have has surgeries, injections and complete testing of my joints. I believe FOI has the edge in all of southeast United States . What many patients do not realize it is a teaching institute for international doctors and allied health care professionals. As someone who has seen a lot of doctors, I can recommend Dr. Gasser without hesitation! The whole team at FOI is professional, prompt, friendly, and organized. I requested to see only him (not his ARNP), and they honored my request with no problem. The most impressive part of my experience is the time he takes with his patients. The office is always very busy, but when it's your time, he is not in a rush. He answers all your questions, and has always told me to reach out if I think of more. He is an excellent surgeon. In the office and in the OR Dr. Gasser is truly a professional. He repaired my Lt meniscus and I was back in action in no time. He just repaired my Rt meniscus and I'm getting ready to be released back to normal work duties. Dr. Gasser repaired the ligament connected to my medial epichondyle (spelling?) after I tore it playing racquetball. He initially tried therapy and cortisone shots to avoid surgery but that didn't work. The surgery went well, I recovered fully, and returned to playing racquetball as well as ever. Dr. Gasser was very thorough and did everything to avoid surgery, which is in every patients best interest. I'll return to him without reservation if I have other injuries!Patient Submitted Review

I first met dr. Gasser on a Saturday morning after I had gone to the urgent care clinic at fl ortho institute. Dr. Gasser was not working, but had just got done teaching a class when he heard there was a possible serious knee injury in urgent care. After a quick exam he recommended a MRI. Since that experience he has been my doctor. His initial diagnosis was 100% accurate (torn acl and meniscus). He showed me the MRIs and went over them with me truthfully, which made me feel extremely comfortable. Surgery was event free. My recovery has been quicker then anyone I have ever known that went through this procedure (that includes about 15 people). Dr. Gasser was an incredible doctor who I would recommend to anyone. He has an extremely high reputation among athletes (he has been the surgically medic for the mutiny, bucs, epl players, ...). His staff was also nice and highly talented.Read more
