Doctor Profile: Marc Weinstein, MD

Dr. Weinstein: My name is Mark Weinstein. I’m an orthopedic spine surgeon and I practice at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute. Well, I treat all disorders of the spine from the neck through the mid-back and the low back. I have a particular interest in treating disorders of the neck. Both with surgical and nonsurgical techniques. I find the spine surgery to be a very rewarding field. It allows us to use, again, very modern techniques with very complex surgeries to return patients to function. We treat patients, young patients, old patients, each of them present their own unique challenges. I like spine surgery in particular because the surgery is complex. It’s highly detailed and is a very interesting way to use our hands to help people back to their normal life.

I have two, let’s say three main passions. One is my family. I really enjoy hanging out with my family and spending time with my children. One of my big hobbies is photography. I find that to be a relaxing way to create and be artistic. And I’m quite active in triathlon training as an active person myself doing lots of different sports. I certainly know what it’s like to be injured. I know what it feels like not to be able to do the things I like to do because of pain and dysfunction. And so it’s a very neat thing to be able to take somebody who is desperate with pain and slowly losing function and then allow them to wake up and really never see me again because they’re doing so well.
