New Life for Aging Joints
Watch two patients’ stories and learn how FOI works to treat aging joints.
My main focus is hip replacement and knee replacement. Uh, specifically focusing on difficult cases in revision. I had a hip replacement in 2000 and it became infected. So I had to remove the old hip and put in a new hip. Certainly being a high volume joint surgeon helps tremendously in understanding joint problems, mechanics.
The minute I went to him I really knew in my heart that he could tell. I Wouldn’t be walking. I would be in a wheelchair if I didn’t get Dr. Lyons to do the surgery.
Yeah, it really is pretty profound when you take someone who is not walked in that long and after proper rehab can actually help them walk and regain some sense of the quality of life.
I could do a lot of things, but I did them in pain. Mr. Dorman was such a case of having an arthritic knee.
Had severe knee pain for three years and put it off and put it off. And finally, in, uh, early 2011, I decided to have every place a new joint can essentially give the patient their life back. It can restore mobility. And I think for us, humans, mobility is everything. I had almost a full range of motion in 10 days, and in 14 days I went out to the golf course and started hitting balls, uh, with no pain, best thing I ever had done in my life.
